We had our 2nd Annual Golf Outing and it was a huge success. We are thankful for our wonderful players and sponsors, community members, businesses, volunteers and staff members who helped make it a success.
Barnette Thompson-Glanton retired after 44 years of dedicated service to the GARC. She was an incredible inspiration to everyone who came through our doors. She will be deeply missed.
The New Options Waiver Program (NOW) which serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is scheduled for renewal in September 2017 via application to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS). The Department of Community Health and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities seek comments from the public on how to enhance this program to meet the changing needs of families and individuals.
A series of five public forums will be held to collect comments and suggestions for the New Options Waiver Program (NOW) renewal application. We need input from families, self-advocates, providers, and the general public.
Don’t miss this opportunity to make a positive difference in the direction of services for Georgians with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Each year, the Kiwanianne Club conducts their one fund raiser, the Korn Dawg book at the Kiwanis Fair. At that time, members of their organization, members of the community and proud and thankful recipients of past donations and scholarships, gather together to prepare and cook the best corn dogs in America! Through that one event, may organizations receive a donation from the Club members. The Griffin Area Resource Center, Inc, is proud to be one of those organizations receiving a donation this year. Lisa Sassaman, Kiwanianne member and Executive Director of the Griffin Area Resource Center, along with Leslie Nichols, Lakeisha Head, and Yasmeen Delaney pose for a picture while accepting this donation.
