How you can help
Be A Friend & Volunteer!
For those of you who may not be familiar with our agency, let me start out by telling you about our organization. The Griffin Area Resource Center serves individuals with varying degrees of intellectual and/or physical disabilities. We have four divisions: The Workshop, Training Center, Community Living Support, and Supported Employment,
Employing full time staff and volunteers, the GARC supports people with developmental disabilities, Including, Down syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, as well as other disabilities, such as visual impairments, traumatic brain injuries and learning disabilities. We support people to be able to live their life as independently as possible, we improve their chances to work, to have friends, and to participate in the life of our community. We focus on what people CAN do, not what they can not do. We support people in building meaningful lives and following their dreams. This is our mission and your support, donations and interest helps us to accomplish it.
Many people mistakenly believe that the GARC is a state facility. We are a private, non-profit organization and receive state funds only for certain services we perform for our participants. State funding provides only a small portion of the money required for our day to day operation.
It is our sincere hope that you will prayerfully consider your membership in this most worthwhile service organization. Please remember that all donations are tax deductible.
Below is a form you may complete and return if you wish to become a member of our organization. Businesses, individuals, and families are all welcome and encouraged to join Griffin Area Resource Center. All of us at GARC would like to thank you in advance for your support.
Our Mission:
Is to Empower Participants to achieve the highest level of personal Independence and connection within their Community, and to strive to improve their quality of life.
